As writer Latoya Peterson noted four years ago at the race and culture blog, Racialicious , in a piece about discriminatory push-back against Kardashians relationship with black NFL star Reggie Bush: Our current limitations on the entire concept of race make it hard to come up with a term that would accurately describe the Kardashian sisters, but the Kardashians relationship to race [may be] a little more complicated than people assume. Im inclined to believe thats true and Kim Kardashians blog post seems to confirm it. The real find in her writing isnt that racism is still alive and thats just becoming aware of it. Its her (probably unwitting) admission that marginalized communities can be as susceptible to empathy gaps as anyone else. Kardashian also intimates that her privilege had thus far allowed her the luxury of distance from racisms impact. This Sunday will be Kim Kardashians first Mothers Day. She deserves some credit for taking a public, protective stance on behalf of her daughter. Its good that shes willing to acknowledge that Norths life wont be as insulated from racism as she claims hers has been.

The Kardashian Kollection made its runway debut in Australia last weekend. The clothing line – owned by sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian – made its catwalk debut at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival runway in Sydney, against an around the world-themed backdrop, with iconic landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Chrysler Building behind the models. The collection includes a number of tight fitting bodycon dresses, monochrome colour palettes to suit all body types and many garments recreate the signature Kardashian style through the use of animal print on tropical fabrics. In addition, elegant lingerie in nudes and pastel colours were showcased, as well as basics including denim shorts, trendy sheer blouses and sexy leather trousers. Although none of the Kardashian sisters made it to the show Khloe – the youngest of the three – is planning on flying to Australia in November following the launch of their brand in September.
